Children’s Liturgy

After the opening greeting at the 10:30am Sunday Mass during term time, young children are invited to form a procession for the Children’s Liturgy. Parents may accompany those children who cannot attend without them.

The teacher leads a simple Liturgy of the Word for children which uses simple versions of the readings which are used at the Mass. There is some singing and catechetical instruction. This is followed by an activity; colouring sheets to take home or working on a display for the boards in the church.

The Liturgy is designed for children from the age when they are capable of attending a nursery up to the age when they receive their first Holy Communion. Not all the children who participate are at St. Mary Magdalen School, the Children’s Liturgy is for any child at the Church. We also welcome children who come when they are staying with grandparents for the weekend.
